Carpet woe's

I hate carpet. I hate carpet even more when it's put on stairs. It's too easy to snag your foot and send yourself  into a heap on the floor.  Carpet also does not win points for me in the allergy catagory. With a husband who has asthma and allergies to dust and pets.....can you blame me? No thanks.

The carpet on the stairs to the basement has been bugging me ever since we moved in. Two days ago I decided to do something about it. The carpet itself came up pretty easy, but It's taken me two days to get 3/4 done pulling tacks, staples, and scraping foam carpet pad off each step. I keep telling myself, "It's gonna look great when I'm done.". The next step will be to sand a putty like a mad woman so that my paint job will look fresh and new and clean. The dogs are afraid of the stairs right now, and who can blame them. I've pin cushioned  myself a couple of times on the carpet tack strips as I tore them out. I wonder what I should paint them........

Wheelin' Around.....

The holidays are gone but I crochet on! I'm working on another Catherine's Wheel scarf from the pattern I found on Ravelry.com.  My first one was a Christmas present for my mom done with cream and a nice tweedy yarn in shades of blue/navy (see picture at right column). This new one is the same cream but its a tweedy green instead. They look like the same scarves in the picture, but the only similarity is that I used Patons Kroy Socks yarn for them. mom's scarf had cream for Yarn A and the new one has cream for yarn B.

I learned a lesson in the first one I made, weave in your ends as you go! It too me two days to weave in the ends on mom's. My current project I am weaving them in every few rows completed. That way they don't get in the way as I crochet the border and it won't feel like forever to get them in. I was so happy with the first scarf. It really is a pretty pattern, and looks more like knitting than crochet. When this new one is finished it will be off to Germany. =)

Ok...I gave in! I now have a blog. I thought it might be fun for sharing all my favorite things with family and friends like my craft projects, cakes, and the garden. It's going to be a place for all the things I love for all the people I love....ENJOY! =)
